The main focus of my research group is gene expression regulation in non model fruits such as mango (Mangifera indica L.). To achieve it, transcriptomics, qRT-PCR, enzymatic activity and quantification of metabolites is performed. Biochemical pathways related to fruit quality are being uncovered, identifying gene families involved and comparing them against other fruit and model plants. Transcription factors and non coding RNAs are also of interest in my research.
In the health area my interest is to develop molecular tools to identify microorganisms that cause diseases to humans.
