Javier Franco-Pérez earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He subsequently completed his Master’s and PhD studies at UNAM’s Faculty of Medicine, specializing in neuroscience research.
He is currently a Researcher in Medical Sciences at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery in Mexico City. He also completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) in Lausanne, Switzerland. During this period, he established a novel pediatric mouse model of medulloblastoma and investigated the therapeutic potential of FLASH radiotherapy for brain tumors, with particular emphasis on its cognitive side effects.
His primary research focuses on seizures, stroke, and cognitive impairment induced by various pathological processes, as well as the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms driving these conditions.
