She is the founding Director General of the State Public Policy Laboratory of Hidalgo (Mexico) ( the first sub-national evidence-based policy lab in the country) and a Level 1 member of Mexico's National System of Researchers (SNII).
Her research integrates Earth observation, spatial epidemiology and hydrogeology to model the dynamics of fast-growing peri-urban regions, with a focus on groundwater vulnerability, land-use change, and the environmental drivers of public health risk. She has published in urban topics, spatial analysis on urban growth, and infrastructure, geographic analysis on health topics on including pioneering work on wastewater-based surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in the Mexico City megacity.
