SUBERCASEAUX UGARTE, DIEGO JOSE

Agricultural Engineer and Master in Natural Resources Sciences from the Catholic University of Chile and Doctor in Sustainability Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. More than fifteen years of experience as a researcher and consultant on issues related to sustainability, environment, territory, agroecology, and landscape. He also has experience as a higher education professor at different levels and as a lecturer.

His academic and professional work is oriented towards the generation, co-construction, dissemination, and articulation of knowledge between different fields of knowledge and social sectors, facing relevant problems in the socio-environmental context of the current world. Researcher in topics and problems related to sustainability, mainly from Sustainability Science, Agroecology, Territorial planning and land use, social actors and rural communities, peasant agriculture, rurality, and human landscape, among others. His research focuses on the dynamics of rural and socio-environmental territorial systems from a systemic, complex, and inter- and transdisciplinary approach, delving into theoretical and epistemological dimensions while addressing social or real-world problems. He has especially deepened and applied qualitative tools, such as interviews, participatory workshops, surveys, and thematic content analysis. He has published research articles, academic and non-academic book chapters, academic and non-academic dissemination articles, essays, and poetry, among others.

He has participated and collaborated in NGOs, in organizational development, the construction of collaborative networks with different sectors (governmental, academic, citizen/civil, and private), and the execution of studies. He has participated and collaborated with non-academic study centers, and he also works in the Environmental Assessment Services of the Government of Chile.
