ZAVALA ORTIZ, DANIEL ARTURO

Dr. Daniel Arturo Zavala Ortiz is a Full-Time Professor of Biochemical Engineering at Tecnológico Nacional de México (Instituto Tecnológico de Veracruz), where he heads the Laboratory of Bioengineering (UNIDA). He received his Ph.D. in Biotechnology through a cotutelle program with Université de Lorraine (France) as an Eiffel Excellence Scholar.

His research integrates bioprocess engineering, industrial biotechnology, and process analytical technologies to develop sustainable bioprocesses based on plant cells, microorganisms, and agro-industrial biomass. His work spans enzyme production, plant cell biotechnology, microbial fermentation, biorefineries, and real-time spectroscopic monitoring of bioprocesses, with applications in pharmaceuticals, biofuels, and high-value bioproducts.

Dr. Zavala is a Level I Researcher in Mexico's National System of Researchers and Innovators (SNII), holds the PRODEP Recognition for Academic Excellence, and served as the founding President of the Academic Board for the Ph.D. program in Engineering Sciences at ITVer. He is a member of the Editorial Committee of the Mexican Journal of Biotechnology, actively serves as a peer reviewer for international journals, and is committed to advancing sustainable biotechnology through research, graduate education, and collaboration with industry.
