Alfonso Meave is Associate Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Santa Fe and Lecturer at the Music Faculty of UNAM in Mexico City. His research and teaching focus on the multidisciplinary of music and sound. He holds a Ph. D in Music (Music Technology), an M.M. (Music Technology), and a B.M. in guitar performance from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). From 2015 to 2017, Dr. Meave was guest lecturer at the Universidad de Occidente (UdO) in Sinaloa, Mexico. In 2017, he was named Collaborating Professor at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil. He has also participated in various international conferences, as Pedagogy into Practice, Lee University, TN (2017), ICIAS 2010 (Cancún, México), CIM08 (Thessaloniki, Greece), and CIM14 (Berlin, Germany), etc. Dr. Meave is the co-author of the software ModusXXI, an atonal melody generator for ear training based on Lars Edlund’s Modus Novus methodology, published by the UNAM, and Contrapuctus v.1.0, a species counterpoint analysis and generation software. In the summer of 2015, he accomplished a post-doctoral research stay about music perception at the Center for Systematic Musicology of the University of Graz, Austria, under the guidance of Richard Parncutt. In 2023, he was invited to serve as a guest professor at the INSEEC Grande Ecole in Paris and Bordeaux, where he delivered a course on music and branding.
