Expert in the field of Computational Archaeology; combines his training
in Mesoamerican Archaeology, Mexican Colonial History, Computer Science
and Geographical Information Science to develop methodologies
for the analysis and dissemination of cultural heritage. His most recent
projects deal with: (a) application of 3D Computer Vision and Machine
Learning to automate the recognition, retrieval and classification of cultural
heritage objects, particularly from museum collections and online
repositories; (b) developing a methodology based on Corpus Linguistics
and Named Entity Recognition for data mining and discovery of new
knowledge in sixteenth century documents from New Spain; and (c)
reconstruction of road networks to study interaction of Aztec and early
colonial towns in the core of the Aztec Empire.
