I am a Molecular Biologist, Biochemist and Toxinologist. I have been involved in various multidisciplinary projects of biology and biomedical sciences. I combined transcriptomics, proteomics, genomic organization, bioinformatics tools and electrophysiological experiments that offered information of new genes and peptides from diverse invertebrate species. My field of study is centered upon the investigation of transcripts, genes and peptides as novel compounds for potential drugs (e.g. ion channel modulators, antimicrobial) or other biological activities.
I'm currently involved in wastewater and water body-based epidemiology as a monitoring tool for human disease and ecosystem health (via eDNA).
I began my scientific career in plant biology. Consequently, I have good experience with plant cell tissue and organ culture methodologies, protein protocols for biochemical and plant biotechnology.
