HERRERA RAMIREZ, JOSE MARTIN

Dr. Jose Martin Herrera-Ramirez is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Research in Advanced Materials (CIMAV) and a Level III member of the National System of Researchers (SNII). He is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and the Association of Military Engineers, recognitions of his leadership and contributions to the field of Materials Science. His research focuses on the development of innovative materials for biomedical, aerospace, defense, and cement applications. With over 140 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Herrera-Ramirez has successfully bridged the gap between fundamental science and strategic technological development. He previously directed the Applied Research and Technological Development Center of the Military Industry (CIADTIM), where he led the design of the Mexican FX-05 rifle. His international trajectory includes research stays in Japan, France, and the United States, fostering global collaborations. He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Ecole National Superieure des Mines de Paris, an MSc in Metallurgical Engineering from National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), and a Chemical Engineering degree from the Military School of Engineers (EMI). Beyond his research, he has supervised numerous undergraduate and graduate theses, mentoring the next generation of scientists. He has actively led multiple projects backed by national and international funding, consistently generating concrete technological applications that provide direct benefits to Mexican society across diverse industrial sectors.
