Luis M. Farfán received a masters and a doctoral degree in Atmospheric
Sciences from the University of Arizona, in Tucson. He works at CICESE, a
research center located in the Baja California peninsula. He is performing
studies on tropical weather systems that develop over the western portion
of Mexico. In particular, his research concentrates on the analysis of
hurricanes and mesoscale convective systems that have had an impact
over the peninsula during the last few decades. During most years,
there is at least one event associated with strong winds, heavy rainfall
and property damage.
