Dr. Orlando Miguel Espinoza Ojeda earned his Bachelor's degree in Physics from the Faculty of Sciences at the Autonomous University of Baja California. He subsequently completed his Master's and Doctoral studies in Engineering (Energy) at the Institute of Renewable Energies (IER) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he developed an interest in geothermal resources through the analytical-numerical analysis of geothermal reservoir temperature distributions.
In 2012, he began a postdoctoral fellowship at the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, USA.
Since September 2014, he has held a SECIHTI Research Fellow for Mexico. He primarily works on the identification and characterization of geothermal resources through thermal geophysical analysis, as well as on the study of Earth's heat and its influence on various geodynamic processes.
Dr. Espinoza regularly contributes to and participates in scientific and outreach activities through his involvement in national and international conferences, including those of the Mexican Geothermal Association, the Mexican Geophysical Union, the AGU Fall Meeting, the Stanford Workshop on Geothermal Reservoir Engineering, the New Zealand Geothermal Workshop, and the World Geothermal Congress. He is a Level I National Researcher in the National System of Researchers.
