SANCHEZ FERNANDEZ, JOSE ANTONIO

Dr. Sánchez was born in Mexico City. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical and Biological Chemistry at UNAM Zaragoza School of Higher Studies, his Master’s degree in Sciences at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa in Mexico City and his PhD at Instituto Tecnológico de Ciudad Madero in Tamaulipas, Mexico.
He is SNI Level 1 and an active member of The Mexican Academy of Sciences and The American Chemical Society. He also belonged to the Nanotechnology Cluster of Nuevo Leon, Mexico from years 2011 to 2014. He joined the Tecnológico de Monterrey in January of 2008 after a successful career in the industrial R&D sector at the Instituto Mexicano del Petóleo (IMP) in Mexico City and Negromex Industries and Dynasol Elastomers Research Centers in Altamira, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He also worked as a Research Associate of the Research and Innovation Department at Universidad de Montemorelos from January 2017 to February 2018. From July 16th of 2018 he is a Senior Researcher in the Polymerization Processes Department at Centro de Investigación en Química Aplicada (CIQA) in Saltillo, Coahuila.
The understanding of structure-property relationships in materials engineering has been an important milestone in his career as a researcher, which has led him to be a technical advisor for different private and public entities, such as: Grupo Primex, BASF Mexicana, Polioles, Sales del Istmo, Servicios Aeroportuarios del Sureste, S.A. de C.V., PEMEX, CEMEX, Siemens, FRISA and Caterpillar, to mention some.
His scientific work has led to 9 technological developments, 7 technical reports, 16 research projects, 10 symposium memoirs, 35 symposium presentations, 8 publications in indexed scientific journals and 2 publications in non-indexed scientific journals. Dr. Sánchez has directed 34 theses, 6 of them for postgraduate programs, 3 were masters and 3 were doctoral. He also is and has been a reviewer of scientific manuscripts for different scientific journals of international circulation.
He has taught at Universidad del Noreste (UNE) both undergraduate and postgraduate studies, in Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Tamaulipas (IEST) and in Tecnológico de Monterrey at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the areas of Chemistry and Chemical engineering: Organic Chemistry Mechanics, Kinetics and Molecular Dynamics, Thermodynamics and Equilibrium Thermodynamics, Plastics Production Processes, Spectroscopic analysis, among others. In addition, he participated in the XVII Summer edition of Scientific Research promoted by the Mexican Academy of Sciences.
Regarding his business relationships, he has worked as a collaborator in several Innovation Stimulus Projects (PEI), either as responsible technical expert, researcher or advisor. Additionally, Dr. Sánchez promoted the existence, in 2013, of the company Desarrollo Químico Avanzado Sanferd S. A. de C.V . and in the year 2017 of Litech S. de R.L. of C.V .; technological R&D companies for the develop and fabrication of polymeric materials with chromophore units having non-linear optical properties for biomedical applications and energy storage solutions.
