Dr. Luis Fernando Méndez López is a Professor of Immunology at the School of Public Health and Nutrition, Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the same institution, specializing in the discovery of natural anticancer compounds within the School of Chemistry. Dr Méndez has held notable academic and research positions, including serving as a Research Associate at the Center for Complexity Sciences, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where he developed dynamic models to investigate cancer gene regulatory networks. Additionally, he was a visiting professor at the University of Cagliari, Italy, focusing on cancer and plant metabolomics. Dr Méndez is a Level I Member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) and a Full Member of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society. He holds editorial positions as Review Editor for Cancer Metabolism in Frontiers in Oncology and as Editor-in-Chief of Revista de Salud Pública y Nutrición. Dr Méndez employs an integrative theoretical–experimental approach to investigating the links between cellular aging, inflammation, and the development of chronic diseases. His research also explores the health benefits of bioactive compounds derived from edible and medicinal plants.
