AQUINO JARQUIN, GUILLERMO

Dr. Aquino is an established biomedical research scientist in the RNA Biology and Genome Editing Section at the Children’s Hospital of Mexico "Federico Gómez" in Mexico City. Dr. Aquino’s research interests include improving our understanding of the role of non-coding transcripts in regulating gene expression in human cells by employing CRISPR-Cas technology. Furthermore, he is developing a microRNA detection/quantification system based on the CRISPR-Cas13 system. Dr. Aquino is also keen on establishing guidelines for CRISPR applications in accordance with international regulations for gene editing at the Children's Hospital of Mexico. He contributes to teaching advanced molecular biology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and mentoring students from the Master’s and doctoral programs in Biological Sciences at the UNAM.
