Fernando Rivera-Cabrera received his bachelor's degree in Biology from the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM), a master's degree in Agricultural Science Focus in fruits at the Postgraduate College (CP) and a PhD in Experimental Biology at the UAM. He Performed a postdoctoral stay focused on Post-harvest Physiology and Biochemistry with Dr. Adel Kader, at Plant Sciences Deparment in UC-Davis USA. Dr. Rivera-Cabrera is a Full Professor and Researcher at the Metropolitan Autonomous University-Iztapalapa Unit (from 2003 to date). He currently develops and directs research projects related to the application of technologies for the conservation of fruits and vegetables, biochemistry and molecular biology of plants, plant responses to oxidative stress and natural products and bioactive compounds in plants and their effect on nutrition and human health. He has belonged to National System of Researchers in Mexico (SNII) since 2007: SNII I (2007-2017); SNII II (2018-2021). He has published 62 articles in indexed International Journals, 4 book chapters, and coordinated one scientific book and participated in 185 National and International conferences. Graduated to 20 students of Bachelor, 6 of Masters and 5 of doctorate and 2 more in process.
He has served as an examiner for more than 50 doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degree examinations and has evaluated more than 70 research articles as a reviewer in the areas of Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Food over the past 10 years. He has delivered 8 invited keynote addresses at specialized events and actively participated in 26 national and international public and private evaluation committees.
