María Georgina Fernández Sesma is a Doctor of Philosophy in applied linguistics from the University of Southampton (England), where she graduated on September 2020.
Fernández has a Degree in Pedagogy with an emphasis in Linguistics from the Autonomous University of Baja California in Tijuana, México, where she worked for ten years as an English teacher in the Language Center of the School of Languages and in the BA in ELT.
Fernandez currently works as a professor in the BA in English Language Teaching (ELT) at the Sonora State University in Mexico (UES). She is responsible for the Research Group of ELT in UES. Additionally, she is an active member of the Research Group named Innovación y Desarrollo Educativo, whose line of investigation is Digital literacy to improve teaching and learning processes. María Georgina has academic publications on EFL students’ language skills and critical thinking development, English for specific purposes, and didactic material elaboration. Currently, her research focuses on language learning with technology and reading habits in the tertiary context.
