Medical Doctor and Clinical Geneticist with an MSc in Medical Sciences and a PhD in Science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is currently a Full-Time Professor at the University of Health (Universidad de la Salud, UNISA) and at the Faculty of Nursing and Obstetrics (Facultad de Enfermería y Obstetricia, UNAM), where he conducts teaching, mentoring, and research activities in the fields of genetics and health sciences.

His research focuses on human genetics, genetic epidemiology, complex diseases, rare diseases, and gene–gene interactions (epistasis). His doctoral work investigated the contribution of genetic variants and genetic interactions to primary knee osteoarthritis in the Mexican population. He has experience in molecular genetics, observational epidemiology, systematic reviews, and clinical research methodology.

His current interests include the genetic architecture of complex disorders, rare diseases, and the application of genomic approaches to precision medicine and public health. He is also interested in research capacity building, evidence-based healthcare, and the training of healthcare professionals in research methods.

He has supervised undergraduate and graduate students, participated in multidisciplinary research projects, and contributed to the development of research initiatives in academic and healthcare settings. He is a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII).
