Dr. Juan Carlos Martínez-Lazcano is a Research Associate at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery MVS since 2008. He has a PhD and MSc in Biomedicine and Molecular Biotechnology from the IPN in Mexico and BSc in Chemistry and Pharmacobiology from the UNAM. He carried out a postdoctoral stay at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona under the supervision of Dr. Silvia Gines Padros, studying mechanisms of transmitophagy in models of Huntington's disease. Dr. Martínez-Lazcano has indexed articles, international book chapters, and communication works, focused mainly on the molecular mechanisms of excitotoxic and neuroinflammatory damage in neurodegenerative diseases and the mechanisms underlying the increase in aggressive behavior induced by exposure to environmental pollutants.
