Dr. Fidel Martinez-Gutierrez is a Researcher and Professor at the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and the Research Center in Health Sciences and Biomedicine at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi, Mexico (UASLP).

His present research pursuits encompass antimicrobial resistance and the development of novel antimicrobial alternatives targeting both planktonic and biofilm forms. Additionally, he displays keen interest in probiotic microbiology, prebiotics, and their synergistic combination to engineer synbiotics, developing projects in master’s and doctoral degree programs of Chemistry Sciences in the Faculty of Chemical Sciences, UASLP.

Dr. Martinez-Gutierrez's laboratory is actively involved in numerous projects. Through clinical collaborations, he has made significant contributions to the scientific field, demonstrating potential for modulating the gut microbiota. This is particularly pertinent as contemporary scientific literature underscores the strong correlation between dysbiosis and non-communicable diseases.
