Dr. Laurence A. Marchat received her Master Degree (Biology of Organism and Populations) in the University from Orleans, France and her PhD from the University of Paris XI, France. Then, she joined the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) in Mexico City, Mexico, as a Professor Researcher at the Molecular Biomedicine and Biotechnology Programs. Since then, Dr. Laurence A. Marchat and her group are interested in the study of proteins and DNA/RNA sequences that are involved in the regulation of 3´' end processing of pre-mRNA in Entamoeba histolytica. Recently, she has initiated another line of investigation related to the study of molecular mechanisms of obesity. She also colaborates in works to identify molecular markers in cancer.
