COMAS GARCIA, ANDREU

MD graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP), Master in Health Sciences in Infectious Diseases from the Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública (INSP) with honors, and Doctor of Science from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Academic Body of Virology at UASLP.

Currently, he is the director, professor, and researcher at the School of Medicine of the Universidad Cuauhtémoc de San Luis Potosí (UCSLP). He belongs to the National System of Researchers (NSR) at Level II. He has 47 indexed publications and has supervised or advised 34 undergraduate theses and 25 graduate theses.

In the academic and management fields, he stands out as a full member of the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico, president of the Potosina Society of Public Health (SPSP), and a member of the Society for Epidemiologic Research. He is also the director of the Technical Section of Genomics in Public Health of the Mexican Society of Public Health (SMSP). He was awarded the Potosino Prize for Scientific and Technological Research 2022 in the area of Medical and Health Sciences (Young Researcher category).

His career includes the following previous positions and appointments: Coordinator of Research and Bioethics at the UCSLP School of Medicine (2024-2026), President of the Research Ethics Committee at the UCSLP School of Medicine, and Member of the Central Research Ethics Committee of IMSS-Bienestar. Additionally, he was the President of the Research Committee of the Faculty of Medicine at UASLP and a founding member of both the Histocompatibility Laboratory for Solid Organ Transplantation and the Infectious Diseases Laboratory at CICSaB-UASLP (2018-2023). He has served as a subject professor at UCSLP (2018-2024), in the Department of Microbiology at UASLP (2016-2018), and in the Master's in Science with a focus on infectious diseases at INSP (2012-2016).

Additionally, he works as a private consultant in epidemiology, infectious disease control, outbreak management, and clinical research of respiratory viruses, highlighting respiratory syncytial virus, influenza, and SARS-CoV-2.
