I completed my doctoral studies at the University of Pavia, where I investigated calcium regulation in the vascular endothelium. Subsequently, I carried out a postdoctoral fellowship at the Fondazione Salvatore Maugeri, in the Molecular Cardiology Laboratory led by Professor Silvia Priori, focusing on cardiac arrhythmias such as CPVT and on gene therapy as an alternative therapeutic strategy. Upon my return to Mexico, I established a research laboratory at the Institute of Physiology of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, where I routinely supervise undergraduate and graduate students. My primary research interests include the regulation of intracellular calcium in cardiac cells, as well as the structural and functional remodeling of the heart in diseases such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
