Fernando Montemayor Ibarra is a Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (FIME) of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL). He earned his Ph.D. in Education from the University of Baja California, specializing in educational innovation applied to engineering and distance learning.

His research has focused on:
- Pedagogical methodologies for engineering education, including virtual laboratories and simulation-based learning
- Distance education, incorporating emerging technologies for engineering training

His current investigations explore:
- The application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to personalize learning in technical environments
- Self-directed learning through digital platforms and interactive educational resources

His primary research interest lies in developing virtual and remote laboratories that enable students to access industrial environments from any location. Since 1994, Dr. Montemayor Ibarra has served as a full-time professor at UANL, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering.
