Prof. Valades' research topics span high-temperature solar thermochemical reactors, photocatalytic reactors, and photobioreactors. He specializes in the implementation of deterministic (discretization) coupled with stochastic methods applied to simultaneous heat, mass, radiation and/or momentum transport.
His current projects are on:
1. Multiscale algorithms for high-temperature solar thermochemical reactors.
2. Experimental estimation of suspended photocatalysts optical properties.
3. Modeling microalgal biomass production rates as a function of temperature and light spatiotemporal perturbations.
4. A novel meshless parallel solver for the transient incompressible Navier Stokes Eqs in 3D (based on Random Walks, Hodge Projection & Fast Multipole concepts).
