Sandra Luz was recognized as one of the 25 Women in Science in Latin America in the field of Manufacturing by 3M and the United Nations in 2026, a distinction that reflects the impact of her scientific career.
Her sustained research in Mechanical Behavior and Advanced Manufacturing has generated significant contributions in modeling, optimization, and experimental validation through national and international collaborations, with industrial and social applications. She has authored 31 articles in indexed journals, serving as first and corresponding author in more than 80% of her JCR publications, including one paper with over 100 citations and an accumulated production exceeding 300 citations, demonstrating her academic and scientific recognition.
In the technological field, she is the principal inventor of a patent granted by the IMPI focused on the structural safety of housing, and co-inventor of a process aimed at predicting the service life of 3D-printed components. She has completed national and international research stays, developed strong industry collaborations, and served as an Expert in Forensic Mechanics in support of governmental institutions, contributing to strategic national challenges.
Her academic leadership is reflected in the supervision of sixteen undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral theses, as well as in her teaching activities at undergraduate and graduate levels, academic coordination, and participation in accreditation processes, strengthening institutional development and the training of highly qualified human resources.
In scientific outreach, she maintains an outstanding record with more than 80 dissemination products, including conference presentations and outreach publications, promoting inclusive, accessible, and free access to scientific knowledge. Her interdisciplinary background, complemented by studies in inclusive education, reinforces her commitment to equity, innovation, and social transformation, consolidating a profile consistent with that of a National Researcher.
