I lead the maturation and transfer of critical technologies, transforming applied research into validated and deployable solutions. My work has contributed to the development of technologies that achieved real-world validation, manufacturing, and adoption, including mechanical ventilators and flow-estimation methods that reached Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 9, with more than 500 units manufactured and deployed. I have also contributed to the development of a second mechanical ventilator that reached TRL 5 under regulatory requirements for adult and pediatric critical care.
My research focuses on probabilistic, expert, and hybrid embedded architectures for estimation, protection, prediction, and decision-making in critical instrumented systems. I have worked across medical devices, autonomous systems, advanced instrumentation, and embedded platforms, integrating engineering design, technological validation, intellectual property generation, technology transfer, and scale-up.
My previous contributions include the development of emergency mechanical ventilation technologies, electronic design and software development for Mexico’s first underwater glider, maturation of respiratory-care technologies, development of flow and pressure transducers, and embedded systems for industrial and energy applications. My work has resulted in 8 patents and patent applications, more than 17 indexed scientific publications, over 500 manufactured medical devices, and the training of more than 90 professionals and 40 students.
