He received the B.S. degree from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa, Mexico, in 1999 and 2002, respectively. From September 2002 to May 2006, he held a Scientific Researcher position with the Applied Mathematics Research Group of the Instituto Mexicano del Petroleo working on systems analysis and control applications for petrochemical processes. Since May 2006, he has been with the Department of Energy at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Azcapotzalco (UAM-A). His research interests include control applications in chemical and biochemical systems, control of distributed parameter systems, and chaos engineering applications. He has published around 70 technical papers in different international journals and 100 contributions in chapters of specialized control books and conferences proceedings. Above publications have been cited in literature more than 600 times (Factor H = 16). He has supervised 25 posgraduate thesis and 30 bachelor projects related to process analysis and control. He has been responsible and participant of eight research projects with external financial support of around 700,000 USD (IMP, CONACYT and PROMEP). Puebla has served as the Dean of postgraduate programs in process engineering as well as the responsible of the research group of Process Analysis at the UAM-A. He is a founder member of the Mexican Academy of Energy and also was a member of the direction of the Mexican Association of Automatic Control from 2011 to 2013. He has served as a reviewer for different international journals and also as associate editor of the international journal Mathematical Problems in Engineering from 2012 to 2014.
