OCHOA RUIZ, GILBERTO

Researcher in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision. I have participated as associated researcher and lecturer in several programs accredited by the CONACYT PNPC program, geared around Computer Science and Communication and Information Technologies. I am member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI, Nivel I) and of the CONACYT Network on Applied Computational Network (RedICA), the Mexican Societies of IA (SMIA) and Computer Sc. (AMEXCOMP). Since 2019, I am part of the academic staff of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, in its Guadalajara campus.

My research interests are focused on investigating and implementing novel HW/SW architectures for AI applications. I am particularly interested in using reconfigurable technologies and systems (FPGAs and ACAPs) for designing real-time, heterogenous, edge computing applications. I have ample experience in the design and implementation of smart cameras on FPGA-based Systems-on-Chip. More recently, I’ve focused my research to the application of reconfigurable devices in robotics, computer vision and IoT applications, but I am well versed on the use of GPUs as well. In this sense, I currently carry out research on the implementation of end-to-end deep learning-based computer vision applications on constrained devices, which entails the exploration of optimization techniques for making such deep learning models amenable for customized embedded and mobile deployments.
