HURTADO MACIAS, ABEL

Dr. Abel Hurtado-Macías obtained the Doctorate in Materials Sciences at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies (CINVESTAV) in 2008. In 2006 he completed a research stay at the Technical University of Hamburg, Germany. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Gerold Schneider, expert in ferroelectric materials. In 2017 he completed a sabbatical stay at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), USA in the Department of Physics and Astronomy under the mentorship of Dr. Miguel José Yacamán. He is currently a Senior Researcher "C" at CIMAV. Dr. Hurtado has always focused on the development of ferroelectric, ferromagnetic, multiferroic and nanostructured materials. He also works on the evaluation of micro- and nanoscale mechanical properties using nanoindentation in bulk materials science, thin films and nanoparticles. He has indexed around 100 international indexed publications, 4 patents and 4 book chapters on these topics. He has graduated 7 Doctors, 11 Masters of Science, 7 Bachelor's degrees. In addition, he has been in charge of 5 Research projects at CONAHCYT. He has created two laboratories at CIMAV; "Nano-mechanical Properties Laboratory" with the Nano Indenter® G200 Nanoindenter equipment (Agilent) in complement with the MFP-3D Infinity AFM (Asylum Research); and the
"Nanoparticles Multifuntional Properties Laboratory"
He is currently Chairman of the Science of Novel Multiferroics, Ferroelectrics, Metamaterials, and Technological Applications to MEMS Devices symposium at the International Materials Research Congress. This symposium aims to provide an international and interdisciplinary forum for academic, industrial, and national laboratory scientists and engineers. He is Guest Editor of Journal Polymers. He has international collaboration with UTSA, UT-Dallas, Universidad de Antioquia Colombia and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Germany. He is part of the National System of Researchers, Level; SNI 3.
