Octavio Garcia Valladares studied mechanical-electrical engineering at UNAM and his master and doctorate’s degrees at the Technical University of Catalonia, Spain. He is the coordinator of the solar drying group and solar water heating systems laboratories at the Instituto de Energías Renovables UNAM, Mexico. He has patents and software on the design and construction of solar water heating systems, solar air heaters and solar drying systems. Director of the Solar R&D&I company, manufacturer of polymeric solar collectors. Consultant for the United Nations in Panama and for the British embassy for vocational courses on solar water heating systems. He has published more than 75 articles in international journals with more than 2200 citations. He has won the Distinction National University of Mexico for Young Researchers 2010 in the category of Technological Innovation and Industrial Design. He is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences.
