Carlos Espinoza is the leader of the Biomaterials Inspired in Drylands Research Group, involved in the design and development of technologies for microencapsulation using biomimetic as a design strategy and green processing techniques such as Spray Drying, Spray Chilling, and High-Frequency Ultrasound. Carlos received his BEng degree in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Engineering, Nicaragua, in 2005. Then, He received his M.S. degree and Ph.D. in Polymer Technology from the Research Centre for Applied Chemistry, Mexico, in 2008 and 2012, respectively. He is currently a Principal Researcher in the Department of Advanced Materials at CIQA and has belonged to the National System of Researchers (at present SNI-I) since 2013. He is a Co-Guest Editor for Special Collections in the Journal of Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology and Polymers. He belongs to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Ultrasonics Sonochemistry. He is also a Liaison Officer at the Biomimicry-Inspired Scientific and Technological Cluster (BioMimic) at the Institute of Ecology (INECOL), Coatepec, Mexico. He is a Microplastics Research Group "PRIORITY" member from the European Cooperation in Science and Technology and is a subleader in a Working Group on Sustainable Solutions to Microplastics. He is intensely interested in science communication and disseminating scientific findings to regulators, the media, and the public. He is convinced that visual arts are an engaging way to communicate science and gain a holistic and passionate implementation of sustainable development. He also loves baseball and softball, so He has developed skills for intelligent training for professional baseball and softball players through Data Science. He is a Blast Certified Coach for developing baseball & softball players using Blast Motion Technologies.
