Dr. Raúl Aquino Santos is a passionate researcher and leader in technology and natural disaster management. He chairs the Interinstitutional Research Network, which includes researchers from the National Technological Institute of Mexico (TecNM) and the University of Colima, as well as the Thematic Group on flood monitoring and detection of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). A dedication to innovation and technological development marks his career.
Expert Participation: In March 2024, he was invited as an expert to the 12th Focus Group on Artificial Intelligence for Natural Disaster Management (FG-AI4NDM) Meeting and Workshop in Catonsville, Maryland. He also participated in the "Artificial Intelligence for Nowcasting Pilot Project (AINPP)" project meeting in Guangzhou, China, in November 2024. He attended training on Earth Observation applied to hydrometeorological threats, invited by the Copernicus LAC Panama Center in March 2025.
Awards and Recognition: In September 2023, he received the State Researcher of the Year award from the State Council of Science and Technology of the State of Colima (CECyTCOL) for his contributions to technological research.
