MOSQUEDA ESPARZA, JOSE ALEJANDRO

Alejandro Mosqueda is a philosopher and researcher specializing in migration studies, political and social philosophy, and ethics. He is Profesor Investigador Asociado A at the Department of Philosophy, Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, and a National Researcher (Level 1) in Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII). He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and completed postdoctoral fellowships at UAM–Cuajimalpa and at UNAM’s Center for Research on North America (CISAN).

His research focuses on migration, citizenship, xenophobia, epistemic injustice, and the moral dimensions of exclusion in North America. During his postdoctoral research at CISAN, he studied poetry as a collective resource against cultural oppression toward Mexican-origin communities in the United States. He is co-author of Minorías atípicas en Norteamérica. Profesionistas desplazados y migrantes que se vuelven antiinmigrantes (UNAM/CISAN, 2022), author of the peer-reviewed article “La poesía como recurso colectivo frente al imperialismo cultural hacia los mexicoamericanos” (Norteamérica), and co-author of the chapter “Moral Concerns: Immigrants who Reject Immigration in the US” in Migration and the Rise of the United States. The Role of Old and New Diasporas (Edinburgh University Press).

He coordinates the POLETH research seminar (Instituto Mora) and participates in the PAPIIT project Comunicación y diplomacia de las diásporas (CISAN-UNAM).
