GARCIA GONZALEZ, RENATO

I am a Full Time Researcher at Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) where I am conducting a research on Standard and Yusive negation in two varieties of Nahuatl spoken in the central state of Puebla, Mexico. I awarded a Linguistics Ph.D. from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). My research also focuses on the syntax of non-standard variants of Spanish and contact with Mexican indigenous languages, with an emphasis on the theoretical implications of these underrepresented variants. Through the elicitation of data (empirical and experimental), I am interested in contributing to the general discussion of language faculty, highlighting the peculiarities of non-normative Spanish variants.

Over the past decade, I have conducted various fieldwork seasons in the bilingual (Nahuatl-Spanish) community of Teopantlán, Puebla, in central Mexico. There, my primary focus has been on the syntactic-semantic conditions of clitic doubling and differential object marking.

I have also conducted research on the syntax of Mexico's indigenous languages, with a particular emphasis on the syntactic-semantic interface of negation strategies.
