Dr. Jonathan García-Orozco obtained his Ph.D. in Coastal Oceanography from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, where he was awarded honorable mention for his doctoral research. His dissertation focused on the geochemistry of redox-sensitive trace elements in reactive and total sedimentary fractions, as well as their fluxes across diverse modern depositional environments.
His scientific contributions include several first-author publications in high-impact international journals such as Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, Sedimentary Geology, and Chemical Geology, among others. Dr. García-Orozco’s primary research interests lie in the study of trace metals, stable isotopes, and geochemical proxies in the marine environment, with the overarching goal of advancing the understanding of the role of marine sediments in global elemental cycles.
