I was born in Mexico City; since 1990, I have lived in Cuernavaca and worked at the current Institute of Renewable Energies, UNAM, as a Full Professor. I am a member of the Mexican Academies of Sciences (AMC), Engineering (AIM), Sciences of Morelos (ACMor), the Mexican Society of Physics (SMF), the Mexican Society for the Dissemination of Science and Technology (SOMEDICYT and the National System of Researchers distinguished with level III. I have received the Gabino Barreda Medal, the Weizmann Prize in 1991, the Efraim Hernández Xolocotzin Prize in Exact Sciences, the UAEM House of Science Award, the Medal of Honor in Science and Technology 2018 awarded by the Congress of the State of Morelos, the VASE Medal (Vision, Assertiveness, Sensitivity and Understanding), the State Merit Recognition in Research REMEI 2021 and the National University Award 2023.
