Postdoctoral Researcher (2025–present, ICML-UNAM; previously CICESE). Ph.D. in Marine Sciences and Limnology. SNI: Candidate.
I study marine biodiversity through molecular biology, eDNA, metagenomics, genomics, and bioinformatics, focusing on the impacts of climate change. My research analyzes molecular diversity (18S, 12S, 16S, COI, ITS) and the trophic structure of marine phytoplankton in Oxygen Minimum Zones, aiming to understand ecosystem responses to climate change.
I enjoy science communication, teaching, and developing conservation strategies. I am President of the BioMolGen Foundation and was nominated by SECIHTI and INECC to IPCC Working Group II (2024–present), contributing to topics on climate change, biodiversity impacts, greenhouse gas mitigation, and global adaptation.
I have collaborated with the Seaflower Research and Conservation Foundation (Col., 2025), FUNDEMAR (Dom. Rep., 2024), the Institute of Genetics (UNAL, 2025), and Pacífico Vivo, on projects involving the genetic conservation of the coral Acropora palmata and reef restoration.
Committed to research, outreach, and academic training, I have published in Frontiers in Marine Science, Marine Biology, PeerJ, Frontiers for Young Minds, BISTUA, the Bulletin of the Mexican Ecological Society, and El Cardumen. I also serve as a thesis evaluator, scientific reviewer, and contributor to IPCC technical reports (2024–present).
