My research is focused on the biostratigraphy and paleobiology of Lower Cretaceous ammonites (extinct cephalopods) assemblages, under the frame of interdisciplinary studies, which include, among others, the study and interpretation of the temporal succession of facies and the analyses of the organic carbon and carbonate of their source sedimentary rocks. Additionally, I do petrographic studies of carbonate rocks under two aspects: microfacies analyses and diagenetic studies. Those, when incorporate to interpretations of geochemical data, provide useful elements towards the analyses of sedimentary basins. The development of research projects in such knowledge areas is intended to do paleoecological and paleoceanographic interpretations on the Mexican Mesozoic Basins, and their correlations with other coeval basins. I am particularly interested in the Caribbean Domain, standing out the integrated stratigraphic studies of Cuban sections.
