My main research interest is the characterization of the Milky Way (MW) stellar components and the derivation of the MW star formation history as recorded on its stellar populations. In recent years the amount of astronomical knowledge in this topic has increased substantially thanks to the acquisition of enormous quantities of new data. For instance, the data acquired by Gaia have unveiled features and structures in the distribution of MW stars on the sky which provide new detailed information on the MW content and open unique opportunities to test modern Galaxy formation theories and astrophysical models.
