BIRKENKOETTER, HANNAH

I am an Assistant Professor of International Law at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). My main research areas are the law of international organizations with a focus on the United Nations System and general questions of public international law. I am specifically interested in overlaps and intersections between different areas of international law and between international, regional, and domestic legal orders. Further research interests include international human rights law and constitutional theory.

I hold a doctorate in law (Dr. iur.) summa cum laude from Humboldt University Berlin, Germany, a German-French Master’s Degree (LL.M.) from the Universities of Cologne and Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne, and both German legal state exams. I was previously a post-doctoral visiting researcher at ITAM, funded by the German Research Foundation, a post-doctoral Global Emile Noël Fellow at NYU School of Law, and a research assistant at the Chair for Public Law and Jurisprudence at Humboldt University Berlin, where I remain an associated researcher.
