Irineo Torres-Pacheco is an Agricultural Engineer and Specialist in plant genetic improvement; graduated from the faculty of agrobiology of the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo. He has a Master of Science in Biology and a Doctorate in Science in Biotechnology Awarded by The Department of Genetic Engineering of the Center for Advanced Research (Cinvestav). He has carried out Research Stays at the University of Arizona in the United States, The Catholic University of Chile, The University of Almeria in Spain, and the Kibbutz of Shefayim in Israel. He has published More than 145 Scientific Articles Indexed in JCR on Agriculture, Biochemistry, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, Medicine, Computer Science, Bioelectronics, and Chemistry in Scientific Journals Worldwide.
He has published Ten Books and 14 Chapters on Biotechnology, Afflatoxens, and Biosystems Engineering.
He was a Professor at the Faculty of Agrobiology of the Michoacana University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo. He is a visiting professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the Faculty of Higher Studies of Iztacala, and the Faculty of Higher Studies of Cuautitlán. He has also been A Professor at the National Technological Institute, Morelia Agricultural Campus.
He was a Researcher at the National Institute of Forestry, Agricultural, and Livestock Research (INIFAP), where he also served as the National Coordinator of Research in Vegetables, the National Coordinator of Research in Biotechnology, and the General Director of the Central Region.
He was a Member and Coordinator of the Committee of the Agriculture and Biotechnology Area of the National System of Scientific and Technological Evaluation of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) of Mexico.
He was a Founding Member and Coordinator of the Advisory Council of the Intersecretarial Commission on Biosecurity of Genetically Modified Organisms (Cibiogem) of Mexico.
He Belongs to the National System of Researchers of Mexico.
