SULBARAN RANGEL, BELKIS COROMOTO

Dr. Sulbarán is a Professor and Researcher at the University of Guadalajara (UDG) at the Centro Universitario de Tonalá (CUTonalá), Mexico. She is a Level II member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII) and a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. She holds a degree in Forest Engineering from the University of the Andes (Mérida, Venezuela), a Master of Science in Forest Products, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Guadalajara, Mexico.
She has completed research stays at North Carolina State University and Washington University in the United States, the National University of Costa Rica, the University of the Andes in Venezuela, the University of Chiriquí in Panama, the University of Cauca in Colombia, and the Technical University of the North in Ecuador.
Her research focuses on the valorization of agricultural and forestry residues for the production of biomaterials and biogas, the use of sustainable technologies for wastewater treatment, and water purification using advanced cellulose-based materials and nanotechnology. Additionally, she conducts research on circular bioeconomy approaches for biomass utilization, water quality assessment with emphasis on emerging contaminants and microplastics, and remote sensing applications for water quality analysis.
She currently serves as Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Water and Energy Engineering and is a faculty member of both the Ph.D. in Water and Energy and the Ph.D. in Multidisciplinary Health Research programs at CUTonalá, University of Guadalajara.
