My main line of research is the development of prevention protocols for poisoning with various mycotoxins (Aflatoxin B1, Fumonisin B1, Ochratoxin A, Deoxynivalenol, and Zearalenone) in poultry, cattle, and swine. Most of the proposed research protocols are based on prevention through different methods, such as physical detoxification of feed and/or prevention through mycotoxin sequestration in the animal feeding process. Furthermore, the interactions between different mycotoxins and their relationship with the gut microbiota are evaluated. Consequently, the assessment of the effects on intestinal permeability, the estimation of immunity in broiler chickens using various serological tests, and the evaluation of blood biochemistry values and lesions found in target organs through macroscopic and microscopic morphopathology are conducted. Additionally, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to evaluate different materials, including the morphology of the microbiota and mycobiota. Molecular biology is also employed for the quantification of cellular proteins using various PCR techniques.
