ESCOBEDO BONILLA, CESAR MARCIAL

Cesar Marcial Escobedo Bonilla was born in Mexico City. Studied BSc in biology at UNAM and a MSc in Aquaculture and environmental management at CIAD Unidad Mazatlan. In 2006 earned a PhD degree at Ghent University, Belgium on white spot syndrome virus experimental inoculation procedures for studies on pathogenesis and control. At present he works at the Department of Aquaculture, CIIDIR-IPN Unidad Sinaloa on diagnosis, pathogenesis and evaluation of control methods with potential application in the field against shrimp viral diseases. Other research areas include diagnosis of viral, fungal and bacterial pathogens in farmed mollusks, tilapia and amphibians, as well as on marine sea turtles. Research is also done on the evaluation of entomopathogenic agents (viruses, fungi, insects) against agricultural insect and/or fungal pests. Dr. Escobedo-Bonilla is author or co-author of 30 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and has over 40 presentations in national and international meetings on shrimp aquaculture, aquatic animal health and biological control of agricultural pests.
