Tenured researcher in the Biology Program at the Autonomous University of Nayarit, Mexico. I am studying the evolutionary ecology of plant-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in sexually dimorphic/trimorphic species. My work integrates field and greenhouse experiments and biotic and abiotic aspects to detect patterns, and understand mechanisms and processes driving the symbiotic fungal interactions in dimorphic/trimorphic plant species. Recently, I have started to work with the effect that land-use change has on diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in vulnerable ecosystems, such as tropical cloud forest and agroecosystems such as coffee orchards.
