Biologist (Marine Biologist in 1993 and pedagogy in 1995) at UFRJ, Master's (1998) and PhD (2004) in Geosciences at UFF, 4 Post-docs (2002-2003 at UPPA, France; 2005-2006 at USP, Brazil; 2006-2008 at UG, Mexico and 2015-2016 at Aix-Marseille, France). I am Profesor at U. Guanajuato, Mexico since 2008 to date. My expertise are: Environmental Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biodiversity and Bacterial Bioprospection. I work mainly in bacterial bioprospection of extreme environments (volcanos and fumers, acid and alkaline lakes, geothermal sites, and industrial toxic wastes), with special interest in bioremediation/mitigation of sites contaminated by metals, metalloids, nanoparticles, hormones, antibiotics and hydrocarbons. I described 2 new bacterial species isolated from a hyperhalo-alkalophilic crater lake. Currently. I am looking for a bioprocess for the mitigation of metalloid metals [Cr(VI) and Ar(III)].
