Dr. Ricardo Reyna Martínez earned his bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Biology from the Faculty of Chemical Sciences at the Autonomous University of Coahuila, UAdeC. He subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Biotechnology at the same institution, where he strengthened his expertise in biotechnological processes, microbiology, and scientific applications aimed at developing solutions in health, environmental protection, and production systems.

He later earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Technology, with specialized training in the development of advanced materials, the controlled delivery of bioactive compounds, and non-thermal plasma applications. His doctoral research focused on areas relevant to improving the efficacy, stability, and safety of systems with potential biomedical, biotechnological, and pharmaceutical applications.

His academic and scientific career has received recognition at both the national and state levels. He is currently a Candidate-level member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers, SNII, and has been awarded the distinction of Honorary State Researcher by the State of Coahuila through the State System of Researchers. These recognitions reflect his commitment to scientific research, the training of future scientists, and the generation of applied knowledge.

He is also affiliated with the Research Group in Agri-Food and Agro-Industrial Bioeconomy at the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Autonomous University of Coahuila. Through this academic group, he participates in research lines related to the sustainable use of biological resources, the valorization of agri-food by-products, sustainable development, and scientific initiatives with regional impact.

In the field of education, Dr. Reyna Martínez has taught at the upper-secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels, primarily in the chemical and biological sciences. At the graduate level, he has served as a faculty member in the Master’s Program in Chemical Science and Technology, contributing to student training through courses and academic activities related to applied science, research, and technological development.

Dr. Reyna Martínez currently serves as Academic Coordinator at CECyTEC San Antonio de las Alazanas in Arteaga, Coahuila. In this role, he contributes to strengthening science and technology education, supporting the academic development of teachers and students, and promoting educational projects focused on innovation, school-based research, and continuous institutional improvement.
