Mexican, originally from Mexico City, but living since 1984 in the State of Baja California Sur. She is a postgraduate in Marine Sciences and has more than 25 years dedicated to research on the taxonomy and ecophysiology of marine microalgae, especially the group of harmful dinoflagellates. She is the creator and curator of the Marine Dinoflagellate Collection (CODIMAR) of the Northwest Biological Research Center (CIBNOR), an institution where she has developed all of her scientific work.
