LOPEZ GARCIA, ULISES MIGUEL

Dr. Ulises Miguel López García is a professor at the National Technological Institute of Mexico (Tecnológico Nacional de México, TecNM) / Tepic Institute of Technology (ITTepic), where he is also a member of the academic faculty of the Graduate Program in Food Science. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from ITTepic and later completed both his Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Electrochemistry at the Center for Research and Technological Development in Electrochemistry (CIDETEQ).

He is a Level 1 member of Mexico's National System of Researchers (SNII), holds a PRODEP Desirable Profile, and is a member of the Academic Research Group ITTEP CA-4, Agri-Food Sciences and Innovation. He is also a member of the Mexican Electrochemical Society (SMEQ) and the Mexican Association of Food Science (AMECA).

His research focuses on the application of electrochemistry to agri-food systems, with particular emphasis on the development of advanced materials with antimicrobial properties, electrochemical biosensors for food applications, and electrostimulation strategies for biological systems. His research projects include the development of magnetite nanoparticle–chitosan composite films for fruit preservation, the design of biosensors for detecting pathogenic microorganisms in food, and the use of metal oxide nanoparticles and low-intensity electric fields in tomato seeds to improve germination, emergence, and early plant development, as well as tolerance to biotic and abiotic stress.

Throughout his academic career, he has participated in 17 funded research projects, authored 40 scientific articles, 12 book chapters, and one short book, and presented his research at 37 national and international conferences. He is also actively involved in training undergraduate, Master's, and Ph.D. students, contributing to the development of new researchers in the fields of food science, electrochemistry, nanotechnology, and agri-food biotechnology.
