I am an evolutionary ecologist and Associate Professor (C) at the Faculty of Higher Studies Zaragoza, UNAM. I earned my PhD in Biological Sciences from UNAM and I am a Level I member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI). My research focuses on evolutionary ecology, plant–herbivore interactions, chemical ecology, and biodiversity, integrating molecular biology, transcriptomics, and comparative genomics.

I have conducted postdoctoral research at UNAM and at the University of Toronto Mississauga, and have held research appointments in Mexico, Canada, and the United States. My work addresses the evolution of secondary metabolites, macroevolutionary patterns of plant defenses, and the genomic and transcriptomic bases of plant–insect interactions. More recently, I investigate how urbanization influences plant–insect diversity and secondary metabolism in temperate forests of central Mexico, including comparative transcriptomic analyses of plant secondary metabolic pathways
